so we need $390 more for $700 and with Kens contributions we will have our goal. Money is really tight but make that $380 more or 38 people to send $10.

Doc Klein just contributed a matching donation of $1000 and we need to get the "Buy" in to the radio station before Friday so they can run all next week.

An anonymous donor to our website (I can only tell you this person is a semi-active blogger) has matched my donation of $300 so we are only $400 away from our goal.  If we don't get the $400 Doc will not match our $1000.

So I am asking where the final $400 will come from to get us to our $2000 goal?  I have resolved not to finance this thing myself and I am pleading with others to donate this final $400 so we can buy the radio adds to get hundreds of people to our April 21st event.  Many people have sacrificed already to include the many speakers coming from across America to speak and it would be a mortal sin for us to turn out 40 people at the Civic Center!

I have it on good authority Fox News will have a reporter there so we better have a good showing to be reported in the manner we want.

Anybody feel like donating to the radio adds??????

Please?

I spoke with Charlie last night and we are going to do a direct mailing to around 1000 Des Moines residents.  Amie is creating the postcards as we speak.

$2000 will buy a lot of air time. Thank you Ken for your offer to put up the last 300 to make $1000, and thank you Dr. for you offer to match the $1000. so again I ask is there 40 members who will contrubute $10 to reach our goal? I've sent a check this morning to cover me and one other so that means we need 38 more to give up lunch out today and instead use the $10 for something that will make a difference. We will make change and we will prevaile.

Tomorrow we are going to place an order fo 40 radio ads on WHO.  It is going to cost us $2000.  Along with this, we are doing a direct mailing and Dick Woods is trying to get Dr. Baskerville on "Mickelson in the Morning" with Jan Mickelson on WHO to further promote this event.

THE TIME HAS COME TO NETWORK STATEWIDE!

Considering the North Carolina Attorney General just did the unthinkable and honestly stated the accused were innocent rather than simply say the standard "we didn't have enough evidence to prosecute" this is an opportune time to point out just how biased the judicial system really is!

$2000 should really generate some interest in the rally.  My only regret is I will not be there to witness it firsthand.  Please take good pictures and post the video!

Bryan,

Do you/we have a PayPal account? It might help if there is one, and put a "make a donation" button on the main page.

There's a donate button on the first page and I pay using PayPal to this site. It allows you to set up a "subscription" where you have monthly payments made. The donate button isn't very prominent though as it blends in with all of the other buttons.

How are we doing in raising the money. With ken and the anonamous donors $600 we should be able to come up with $400 more to get Dr kleins matching $1000.

Thanks to all who've helped weather it was $5 or $500.

It is so easy to donate online and I got a few more frequent flier miles by using my credit card!

Seriously, we all need to dig deep to make positive things happen.  I am tired of legislators and people in positions to do something for us closing the door rather than listening to us.  Money buys access especially on statewide radio!  I only wish I could hear these adds online but audio streaming no longer works for WHO in this neck of the woods (Iraq).  Oh well, I hope others continue to donate as it appears Carmelita donated $300, as did I, and a few others have sent checks so IowaFathers.com had to make up the difference to the tune of about $300.  Can we get a few more do donate online as I have done?  Special thanks to Dr. Klein for his matching contribution of $1000 and Richard Farr's efforts increasing our effective use of money.  Those responsible for many other donations that made up and continue to make up the shortfall have my enduring appreciation as well as those who contributed with the script and production for the adds.  The auto dialer will also send out messages for this rally until Friday thanks to Charlie.

Fox is covering the NCP Rally.  In fact, they are plugging in to our audio and recording the entire event.  Also, Fox wants to do personal interviews.

Fox as in the NATIONAL news network?  Or, is it a local station?

The local Fox Station is covering the event, but it could end up on the national level news because they pull stories from their local stations, depending on our participation.

I can't wait to see the pictures and we need to do an After Action Review of this event.  Can everyone who went to the event send me private messages (don't individually blog as it will go on endlessly and diffuse the thread).  You can also send me an email kenrichards.iowa@yahoo.com to give me your comments on the following questions:

#1 - What went right?

#2 - What went wrong?

#3 - What can we do better next time?

#4 - What was the best moment during this event?

I will compile the results and post the final AAR.

Ken, I sent you something...

Well I guess we didn't make the news on Fox last night.  We stayed up in the hotel room and watched the race, and then the local fox newscast afterwards.  They had something about Women of Faith, but NADA about us.  After the weather, we fell asleep.  If there was a blurb about us on after that, we missed it.

Judy,

Thanks for the After Action Review and I will publish the results soon.  If anyone else feels like answering send me an email at kenrichards.iowa@yahoo.com or private message me.  Answer the following:

  1. What went wrong?
  2. What went right?
  3. What should we do different next time?
We will be ignored until we are a truly newsworthy story.  If we had been a women's group we would have been roundly reported for having 20 people as they want to report such things.  Remember that program for religious fathers called "Promise Keepers?"  They could pack 50,000 people in a room and barely get a mention on the news because the news doesn't particularly like such movements.  The only reason they got any press at all is because they had a budget to advertise in addition to having a few religious people in the news business.  We need to knock out gronstal to get their attention.  Maja is ducking us.

Minister Smith flew out of Iowa returning very late to Michigan only to drive immediately to Chicago to be with his terminally ill son in the hospital.  My heart and prayers go to this wonderful man of God and I am advertising this donation to encourage others to do the same if they can.  Minister Smith spent at least $400 of his own money to bring his wife to our event and had to pay extra for a flight change on the way out.  Just to put it all in perspective as to how passionate and giving this man is.

Minister Smith's son will be removed from Life Support today.  Any prayers will be appreciated.  What I am about to tell you has been going on even as this courageous man made the trip to Iowa just to speak to you.  He gave himself in his own time of need and he has a special place in my heart for everything he has done for fathers and children.

The rest of the story is that Minister Smith had to endure harmful actions from his ex even as his son was passing.  This phenomenon is very intense to have a parent more preoccupied with harming her ex than caring for her dying son.  My heart really goes out to Minister Ron Smith and his adoring wife Scherry.  Please pray for his son and that Jesus welcomes him into heaven today where all pain is passed away.  Help Minister Smith endure this heartbreaking situation as he only received word his little boy was to be removed from life support in a decision he was not party to in any way.  This long suffering man was home when the hospital called him to inform him his ex was pulling the plug and had just enough time to turn around to say "Goodbye."   The victory is with Jesus even when such terrible times come and I ask everyone to not only pray for Minister smith, his wife Scherry, his son Richmond, but also for his ex wife as her heart needs a healing too.

You can donate to Ron's organization I guess.  He would appreciate that since he does a lot of what he does on his own dime.  I donated to his organization last week and it is a good website to see anyway.

Eric, go to the VIP member area to see the AAR as it shows the attendance but only an estimate.  I think Tony Taylor has the sign in sheets but he is hard to slow down long enough to eat a sit down meal.

I just went to his website. I clicked on the AFRA button in the upper corner to see if we were affiliated with them and clicked on Iowa and came across all of this. Forgive me that the post will be long, but I'd like to share what I found and read. These people too are dealing with DHS, just the CPS part of it. It looks as though DHS really is in the business of making money off of our children. It shows this problem is real and the desperation of parents that love their children. These people have in many cases posted their addresses and home phone numbers in desperation for help. There's even one mother in the reserves pleading for help. Notice how many mothers are here:

Our children were taken from us in a highly publicized case here in Iowa. It has been almost three months and still no visition with them. We have complied with everything CPS has asked and they will won't even throw us a tidbit of hope we might get our children back. My special needs five-year-old escaped the home in the middle of the night and took his three-year-old brothers with him. We were charged with child endangerment. I have a drunk for an attorney for family court and he does nothing he is supposed to. I need to find someone to help me fight and get our children home. We passed all drug tests with flying colors and got great reviews for our psych evals and substance abuse evals. Please help. Our attorneys keep telling us not to go to the press but at least the press would maybe listen.

They are giving you bad advice. Use of the press in one of the best ways to get rid of CPS.

My son who is in his 20's is being victimized by the sex offender's law. He had teenage sex and is now a registered sex offender which he now has to move. He has nowhere to go because of the 2000 feet law, that you can't move by schools or daycares. I support this law for real sex offenders, but my son had consensual teenage sex and is now ruined for life. I believe they need to put sex offenders in categories.

I have lost custody and rights to my children. I have to do something before they are adopted away from me. I need help from someone that will help me and not a lawyer that is just working for their fee and in turn helping the state to make money. I was just contacted by my atty today telling me that they terminated my rights with my son and they are putting him up for adoption. She said we'd appeal the decision. I want to make sure they are stopped. PLEASE HELP ME I WANT MY SON BACK. My daughter is 16 and is living with her father, and I can see her most anytime. My concern is not loosing my son.

I am currently signed up under my husbands screen name and I would like to include my email address as well, It is moneekkamo@aol.com. My husband would like me to request our home address to remain private please. I have a question: How can the Department steal your children based on a claim or assumption of a crime one has supposedly committed and never charge them for the crime, yet punish them accordingly by removing their children and then giving them a record as well? Also, what can we, as the people do to change these actions performed by the state Department and court systems? It's truly unfair that the system has unlimited access to money and private meetings with the courts and I cannot get proper defense because the state will only pay a certain amount to my lawyer for the entire case, so my lawyer is unwilling to go to any lengths that I request, like subpoena people and call on witnesses, or appeal decisions, and also he flat out refused to allow my 14, 15, and 13 year old children to testify in court as to how I parent my children and what the truth is. It is my belief that I have been a victim of a personal vendetta or conflict connected to the case worker that originally started this case against my family. And I live in a small town where everyone is in cahoots with each other. I feel as if I don't have a fair chance or hearings. How can I defend myself against these odds? I am currently attending law school hoping to change something for my children's' lives to be better. But at the time they are still suffering and they are all separated from each other. I have five children altogether. They have not been all together for approximately 14 months.

I defiantly would love to have these people on this site join me me in court when DHS decides that I'm an unfit parent!! The department of human services has wrecked my family and me not being able to care and provide for my children's dreams and hopes for the future and defiantly has made me feel that I basically am a worthless mother. I'm sick of the way our government is handling this and as I have read I basically have no rights because my children remain in child in need of assistance, but as I read all these comments wrote to you I think that all of us should form our own rights that all children need to be with their parents. We need to speak out and be heard I feel because DHS is getting too much power! If there is anything I could form here I would do it without hesitation even if that means I go to jail for speaking out what I feel these people have done to each one of us! Please email me back so we can get something started right away. — Thank you so much Sonia Carolus. Let us all be heard We LOVE OUR CHILDREN AND WANT THEM HOME!!!!!!!

I have seen enough abuses of families, children, and parents to make me sick. Have been abused by CPS in the past myself. Currently, another parent and friend has become the most recent victim, and she shared your site with me. I would **love** to join!

The reason I wish to join is due to the fact tht our three children were taken away from us for the third time over what my ex-husband is telling everyone involved in this case. He only has one with me and the first-born of mine, my only girl daughter, belongs to another and the third is my husband's and mine. We have dealt with them since July 1999 and then last july they removed them and drug tested them ages 3-6-9 now of course 4-7-10 and all were negative. We need help they are now even saying tht I am founded for elder abuse on my dad by denial of critical care. We neeed help in every since. Please let us know what we can do. This is just highlights of what has been going on.

Hello, I am a 29-year-old mother of three, ages 11, 7, and 5. October 2003, I was charged with a number of charges involving drugs, however I pleaded guilty to the charge of "Poss.w/ Intent" which is a 10year sentence. In agreement to my plea I was able to get a 10 year suspended sentence, which is 2 years probation which I have now begun. My children were residing at my mothers home from 10-20-03 till sometime mid January 2004 were they all 3 were put in to foster care I was able to meet the foster parents, and my girls (5 & 7) were placed with in a two parent home very good people, my son (11) was placed in a single parent home also very nice women! I guess my problem is that DHS, and Four Oaks, are seeming to me like they are wanting to make it as hard as possible for me to get my children back, I feel no matter what I do I'm wrong in their eyes. Desperate For Help Getting My Kids Back

editor

Sorry, but experience shows many parents on probation, parole or just suspended sentences lose their kids on account of the endless demands of the police and courts.

Hi, you've probably heard of me before, I'm the Iowa State Director for CPS Watch, Inc. I was appointed to that position last year, by Cheryl Barnes. CPS Watch has been experiencing a lot of difficulties as of late. I have lost contact with a lot of our members, for various reasons. I had formed a local group, here in Ottumwa, Iowa, and have continued to help families in trouble, as best I can. I feel it would greatly benefit my group for me to belong to AFRA, and to be able to access information when I need it. I would also encourage anyone in my group to join, if they wanted to. Please accept this as my application to join your group. — Thank You for your consideration, Linda Downs, Iowa State Director of CPS Watch, Inc.

I'd like to become a member as up until my daughter had a run up against these people, I was unaware how much power they had, and how few rights the individual has left; that they can walk right in and take your kids with only hearsay.

I am in Iowa and where I live DHS failed to help a little girl three years ago, Shelby Duis. The same people are accusing me of things that I am not doing in the wrong ... The information they are getting is from a bad source. I am studying to be a Legal Assistant and researching for cases from all states to help with others in this dilemma we are in.

Of course, CPS workers would be totally ignorant of such a basic fact of life for males. They undoubtedly think we should all squat to pee because that's all they know.

I have not been charged with anything. They said I neglected my children because I refuse to sign a 'Family Agreement' with these government sponsored pigs! I have never abused or been accused of abusing my children. I am accused of not respecting CPS!

Dubuque Iowa is running rampant with individuals who can not see past the almighty dollar. Lutheran Family Services, and others are grabbing children at an alarming rate. The Crossover Foundation is trying to locate as many individuals as possible to fight this ugly demon. We are a very loose fit group. There are not many people willing to step forward. So, although we have about 6 people interested in our group now it may drop over night to a very few. The system here has most people very afraid. They have gone many years without any challenge. Needless to say, we need much guidance to this serious problem. — Dan Shireman, President Crossover Foundation.

I want to personally give my condolences to Pastor Smith  His loss is deeply felt here at Iowafathers and by myself personally.  We all need to know the sacrifice  Pastor Smith gave up to give what he did to be there for us and we need to be there for him as well.

We need to get Minister Smith back in Iowa in the future.  Don't forget he has a DC Rally for August and go to his website to learn more.
